ABOUT

Jeremy was born April 11, 1977 in Nashville. He is a celebrity photographer, entrepeneur and humanitarian who was named «the most influential photographer on the Internet».

Jeremy loves to make Art. starting out as a designer, Jeremy only began taking pictures to bring texture into his design work. His career was a «HAPPY ACCIDENT».

He explored Graphic Design and dabbled in creating album covers for his musician friends, like Matt Wertz and Dave Barnes.

When Digital Photography emerged as a new technology, Cowart picked up a basic camera to incorporate stills into his design.

In 2005, he signed with an agent who helped him break out of the Nashville bubble and into L.A.’s photography scene. Soon he was shooting acts like Sting and Rob Thomas. Just a few weeks ago, he shot the emotional photo for Carrie Underwood’s New Album Cover

BEFORE FAME

He was an artist/painter first before pursuing graphic design in 2001. It wasn’t until 2005 that he decided to pick up a camera and pursue photography.

SOCIAL ARTIST

Cowart has turned his successful career into a platform for activism, too. While he loves his day job, he longed to work on something more fulfilling and altruistic.

In late 2008, he shot portraits of some homeless families in Nashville, and a few comments on the Facebook photos made Cowart realize this one-off project could have farreaching effects.

With an assist from social media and a cohort of Cowart’s photographer colleagues, HELP PORTRAIT has become a Global movement.

By December 2009, there had been shoots in 40 countries. to date, they’ve taken more than 300,000 portraits around the world.

Lastly, after the devastating earthquake hit Haiti in January of 2010, he responder with his «VOICES OF HAITI». Letting the people of Haiti express their own prayers and hopes through photography.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

He says that more important than taking a good picture is finding one’s vision and figuring out what it is you have to say to the world.

It’s taking what you know and what you’ve learned technically and combining that with what you know and expressing it with your eyes.

FAMILY MAN

When he’s not travelling for shoots, his days are pretty normal. Living in Nashville, Tennessee, Jeremy draws a lot of inspiration from his wife, Shannon and their two awesome kids, Adler and Eisley

FOR ME…

He is a brilliant Photographer. I like «Help-Portrait», the movement of photographers, hairstylists and makeup artists who are using their time, equipment and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate.

I also discover that he is the founder of an iPhone app called OKDOTHIS.

These people who are always one step forward break new ground in the 21th century
